About Elio Altare Barolo Arborina

Elio Altare Barolo Arborina is a red wine, barrel made by Elio Altare at DOCG Barolo (Piedmont) with the native variety Nebbiolo.

Elio Altare is an innovator in the traditional Langhe region (Piedmont). Departing from the established guidelines, he knows how to extract the essence of the best crus of the Barolo variety and vinify the grapes with the same interventionism and careful aging in barrels. As a result, he obtains round, elegant wines which are internationally recognized.

Elio Altare Barolo Arborina comes from a cru called “La Morra”. It’s an area of loamy soils, rich in clay and sand, with a southern exposure. They use environmentally-friendly agriculture and harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.

Elio Altare Barolo Arborina ferments spontaneously in the wine cellar, with native yeasts. The wine is then aged for 2 years in barrels, one third of which are new and the rest used, with the aim of achieving harmony between freshness and fullness.

Originating in a privileged place, Elio Altare Barolo Arborina is a wonderful Barolo which shows all the harmony and precision of one of the most majestic varieties of Italy but from an innovative and modern perspective.
2015 Elio Altare Barolo Arborina 2015 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of ripe black fruit, dried flowers, aromatic spices and licorice. On the palate it’s agreeable, elegant and tannic. A wine with a pleasant complexity, silky texture and a long-lasting, seductive finish. A great Barolo which is long-lived in the bottle.
