About Château Grand Corbin 2022 Avanzada

Since the end of the last century, the SMA Group has been in charge of Château Grand Corbin. This property, of which there are written testimonies as early as the 19th century, is one of the best known of the Saint-Georges-Saint-Emilion AOC. This, like many other properties in the area, has fallen into the hands of foreign investors who have been acquiring vineyards they have invested a lot of money into since the 1990s. And the case of Château Grand Corbin is no different. This estate is also being renovated and modernised with state-of-the-art infrastructure and tools to guarantee the quality of its red wine.

Today, after several acquisitions and extensions, Château Grand Corbin owns a total of 37 hectares of vineyards (28.5 ha Classé, 8.5 ha Grand Cru) growing on a mixture of blue clay, silt and siliceous soils (with a touch of limestone) along with gravels and sands. In this respect, it is worth noting the great mosaic into which Saint-Émilion is divided, with a great mix of soils – and their respective qualities – which are reflected in the 970 winegrowers registered in the appellation to date. What is common among them all is the temperate oceanic microclimate, with rainfall throughout the year, which disappears just in the summer months. In addition, of course, there is the influence of the Isle and Dordogne rivers, which act as thermal regulators, preventing frosts and high summer temperatures.

These peculiarities, together with meticulous and careful work in the vineyard (pruning, leaf removal, thinning...) will ensure that the bunches arrive in perfect condition at harvest time, when the grapes are harvested. This operation, which is essential, is carried out by hand, selecting only the best fruit. In order not to compromise quality or good condition, Château Grand Corbin is always gravity-fed, with a second mechanical selection being carried out inside the cellar. Ready for vinification, the first step of Château Grand Corbin is a pre-fermentation maceration, just before the yeast work, where the extraction of colour and varietal aromas is ensured. Château Grand Corbin ferments in stainless steel tanks. Here, in these containers, it spends a month. After this time, Château Grand Corbin is racked into French oak barrels, where it rests for approximately one year.

Château Grand Corbin 2022 is a juicy red wine brimming with aromas and flavors. It is highly intense on the nose, with predominant notes of plums and violets. On the palate, it is rich and full-bodied, ample and very smooth. Deep finish.
