Chandon de Briailles Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru is an ecological and biodynamic, barrel-aged red wine made by Domaine Chandon de Briailles with the Pinot Noir variety in the AOC Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru/Côte-d'Or (Burgundy).
Located four kilometers from Beaune, in Côte-d'Or, Chandon de Briailles is a family winery that was set up in 1834. They have 13 hectares of prestigious vineyards spread equally across the municipalities of Savigny-Lès-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton, and in 1982 the property was taken over by the de Nicolay family. These are talented winegrowers who quickly discovered the harmful effects of chemical cultivation and decided to cultivate organically and according to biodynamic principles in 2008. Today their two sons Claude and François de Nicolay are carrying the legacy with the same passion and producing pleasant, pure and very elegant wines.
Chandon de Briailles Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru is the result of a blend of different Grand Cru de Corton plots. These are vines cultivated under Demeter biodynamic certification, an official seal that guarantees regenerative agriculture and preserves the fertility of the soils to grow lively and healthy fruits.
In the winery, between 10 and 20% of the Chandon de Briailles Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru grapes are destemmed. They are then lightly crushed and fermented in cement vats with native yeasts. The wine is then aged in old barrels for 18 to 20 months. When it is ready, it is bottled without clarifying or filtering.
Chandon de Briailles Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru is a radiant red wine, that is elegant but not remotely ostentatious. A pure and polished work that knows how to faithfully express the characteristics of each terroir and each vintage.
