About Castrum Roche Di Costamagna Langhe Nebbiolo Legno

There are young individuals who simply follow predetermined paths, and then there are those who choose to forge their own destiny from the ground up. Isacco Costamagna undoubtedly belongs to the latter group. From a very young age, he was determined to craft his own wines rather than wait for others to do it for him. Thus, he began cultivating a small plot of land given to him by his grandparents in La Morra, taking the initial steps of a project that today promises to become a legend in Piemonte.

His exquisite vineyard is located in Torriglione, directly opposite the renowned Rocche dell’Annunziata hill. This visual encounter with the historic rock inspired the name of his winery: Castrum Roche, which in Latin means “Castle in the Rocche.”

Currently, Isacco’s vineyards span 3.5 hectares and are entirely dedicated to nebbiolo. Each vine is cultivated with a precision and passion that only someone deeply in love with their land can possess. It is from this profound respect that Castrum Roche Di Costamagna Langhe Nebbiolo Legno is born, a wine whose nebbiolo grapes are grown organically and harvested manually and meticulously, selecting only the perfect clusters.

In the winery, attention to detail persists: complete destemming, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and a 10-day maceration in stainless steel tanks, followed by natural malolactic fermentation. The wine then rests for 8 months in oak barrels and is bottled without fining or filtration, preserving the vineyard’s full purity and authentic expression.
