About Viña Zorzal Garnacha Blanca

Iñaki, Xavier, Mikel, and Rafa are not merely family; they also form a team in the Viña Zorzal project. Their dedication to remaining united as a family (which is no small feat) is matched by a far greater ambition: to revive indigenous grape varieties of the DO Navarra. Thus, from this splendid collaboration, Viña Zorzal Garnacha Blanca is born. 
 
This philosophy of life and work was inherited from their father, Antonio Sanz, who not only instilled in them a passion for the vineyard but also taught them that fine wine originates right there, at the vine’s roots, in the field. With this in mind, organic cultivation is the only viable path to achieving the finest wine imaginable. 
 
Viña Zorzal Garnacha Blanca thrives in the pre-phylloxera vineyards owned by the family in the village of Fitero, nestled between the Sierra de Cameros and the Ebro Basin, one of the oldest known in the region. A remarkable 115 years of tradition support the legacy of the garnacha blanca growing on stony and rocky soils with clay, limestone, and conglomerates. The harvest, like all other tasks, is conducted manually. The grapes are swiftly transported to the winery. 
 
During the production of Viña Zorzal Garnacha Blanca, intervention is kept to a minimum, with spontaneous fermentations using native yeasts, and avoiding racking, filtration, and clarification at all costs. Cold maceration for 10 days prior to pressing is a pivotal step. Viña Zorzal Garnacha Blanca will rest for four months on its lees in stainless steel tanks.
