About Pazo Barrantes La Comtesse

The farm Pazo de Barrantes is located right in theValle del Salnés. In its centre, we can find a winery that bears its name, with the most true architectural style of ‘el pazo’, a Galician palace from the 16th century. The farm has twelve hectares of Albariño grape vineyards of the highest quality, planted on sandy, low-depth, somewhat acid soils. With a clear objective, it is the production of an Albariño wine worthy of an outstanding place among the best wines of Spain.

The winery Pazo de Barrantes is owned by the Murrieta family, which also owns the Marqués de Murrieta winery. The offer of wines from the combination of these two wineries is one of the most attractive ones in the Spanish wine scene.

Pazo Barrantes La Comtesse is a wine produced with Albariño from a 12 hectare vineyard of old vines, Pago Cacheiro, located on shallow, sandy soils.

The grapes are manually harvested and placed in 20 kg boxes. Once in the winery, the grapes are destemmed before entering the press. Here, with a soft pressing, they extract the must, which after a settling process will ferment in 3,000 litre vats made of French oak from Allier, of fine grain, for 60 days at a controlled temperature of 10ºC. Here, the wine remains, of which 6 will be on its lees, and then carry out another 13 months in concrete tanks.

2019 Pazo Barrantes La Comtesse 2019 displays an elegant golden-yellow hue that entices one to explore its depths. On the nose, it is subtly aromatic, exuding fragrances of juicy nectarines and sweet quinces, interwoven with notes of thyme, dill, and a fresh hint of eucalyptus that adds a charming herbal nuance. On the palate, it reveals itself with remarkable volume, showcasing a firm and complex structure. The creamy texture is balanced by a lively freshness, leaving a persistent and pleasing trace after each sip. This vintage offers a refined expression, perfect for those seeking a white wine with character and sophistication.
2018

Pazo Barrantes La Comtesse 2018 is a barrel-aged white wine, distinguished by its complexity and aromatic richness. On the nose, it presents intense aromas of fruits such as peach, pear, and ripe apple, accompanied by delicate floral notes and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, it is elegant and well-balanced, with a refreshing acidity and a long, persistent finish. Ideal for those seeking a white wine with character and depth.

2017

Pazo Barrantes La Comtesse is a creamy, deep and structured wine. On the nose, ripe fruit aromas stand out, with notes of white flowers and a final balsamic touch. In the mouth, it is unctuous and with volume, with a good balance between structure and freshness, and a very long and amiable finish.
