About Museum Reserva
Museum Real Reserva is a red wine by la Bodega Museum, belonging to Baron de Ley Group, made in Cigales.
It is a single-variety Tinta del País made with grapes from very old vines, over 70 years old, planted in calcareous clay soils with boulders on the surface. The farm is located about 800 metres above sea level. This area suffers from a severe continental climate, with large temperature contrast of up to 20°Cs between day and night. Summers are very hot and very cold, winters are rainy. Springs tend to be milder but with a high risk of frost. The weather is severe, which limits the performance of the vineyard. Autumns are usually rather cold, helping to obtain a slow ripening of the grapes.
The harvest is done manually and the grapes are transported in small boxes to the cellar, where they are stripped and then sorted. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 29°C for 10 days.
After the fermentation, the wine is macerated for 30 to 35 days ensuring maximum extraction. Museum Real Reserva is aged in new French oak barrels for 24 months, there are rackings 5 times each year. Unfiltered, it spends a minimum of 12 months in the bottle before being marketed.
