Hakushu 12 Years Japanese Single Malt is a whisky that originates from an untouched forest within the Japanese Southern Alps, imparting its pristine essence into this extraordinary amber-golden distilled spirit. Upon nosing, it unveils aromas of strawberries and cherries, complemented by hints of Mizunara wood (Japanese oak). On the palate, it flows with an elegant freshness, featuring nuances of mint, licorice, citrus, and subtle peat and smoky undertones that provide depth. An exceptional whisky indeed.

About Hakushu 12 Year Old Japanese Single Malt Whisky

Located two hours from Tokyo, in Torihara, Yamanashi Prefecture on Honshu Island, Hakushu is Suntory's second distillery and the highest in Japan. Despite its relative newness, having been constructed in the 1970s, Hakushu once held the title of the largest distillery in the world, with an annual production of 30 million liters of spirit.
 
Hakushu is also distinguished by its location amidst a pristine forest. An idyllic setting where the water quality is so pure that it is ideal for malt distillation. This same water is also bottled and marketed by Suntory, becoming the most consumed in Japan.
 
Hakushu 12 Years Japanese Single Malt Whisky is born in this verdant environment, as green as the hue of its distinctive bottle, offering refreshing notes nuanced with a subtle peaty aroma, providing an elegant depth that, unlike some Scotch whiskies, the smokiness of Hakushu tends to be more delicate, delivering a balanced and sophisticated experience.
 
For its elegance and quality, Hakushu 12 Years Japanese Single Malt Whisky has been awarded a gold medal in the Best in Class category by The International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), winner in the Japanese Single Malt 12 Years and Under category by World Whiskies Awards, and recognized with a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SWSC), among many other accolades that certify Hakushu's mastery in the art of distillation.
