About Domaine des Sablonnettes Le P'tit Blanc

In the world of wine, some choose to adhere to established rules, while others prefer to forge their own path. Christine and Joel Menard exemplify the latter category. As true activists at heart, they have decided to label all vintages of their wines as "Vin de France." The reason? To free themselves from any constraints imposed by specifications and to fully express their vision and passion for wine. From planting to harvest and vinification, they have created an environment where creativity and respect for nature guide every step of the winemaking process. With a total of 13 hectares of vineyard certified biodynamic since 2007, they produce expressive and intriguing wines under the brand Domaine des Sablonnettes in the heart of the AOC Coteaux du Layon, in the Loire (France).

Their white wine Domaine des Sablonnettes Le P'tit Blanc is a single-varietal chenin blanc from vines aged between 20 and 60 years, planted on schist soils and cultivated according to biodynamic principles. Ten percent of the grapes are harvested with noble rot. The harvest is manual, and once in the winery, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks using native yeasts naturally present on the grape skins. Afterwards, the wine ages in fiberglass, and finally, bottling is done without clarification or filtration and with only a small amount of sulfur added at bottling.

With a cheerful and original label that conveys the joy of life, Domaine des Sablonnettes Le P'tit Blanc is a wine that preserves the integrity of the fruit and reflects the commitment that defines Christine and Joel as activists of low-intervention wine.

2021

Domaine des Sablonnettes Le P'tit Blanc 2021 is a light white wine. On the nose, it reveals aromas of banana peel, dried mangoes, jasmine, and a hint of green tea. Upon tasting, one can discern flavours of ripe nashi pears, green tea, roasted yellow bell pepper, and a subtle touch of oat milk. A wine with a moderately aromatic profile, perfect for those seeking something fresh and easy to enjoy.
