About Clos Cibonne Cuvée Prestige Olivier

Clos Cibonne Cuvée Prestige Olivier is an organic red wine coupage of the Tibouren, Grenache and Syrah varieties. It is a Cru Classé produced by Clos Cibonne in Côtes de Provence, France.

Clos Cibonne is a centuries-old winery located in Le Pradet, in the Côtes de Provence region whose main hallmark is the historical Tibouren strain, with which they also produce high quality rosé wines.

In the 1930s, André Roux, descendant of the founders of the winery, began the process of rescuing the Tibourenvineyards, an historical Provence vine, convincing the AOC Côtes de Provence to accept its inclusion as a permitted variety within the denomination. In this way, the strain also became the heart and driving force of Clos Cibonne, a great ambassador of the Tibouren variety, both in France and in the rest of the world.

Caroline and Olivier, great-grandchildren of André Roux, represent the fifth generation of the family and give their names to the two prestige cuvées produced by Clos Cibonne: Clos Cibonne Cuvée Prestige Caroline, a particular and elegant aged rose wine made with Tibouren grapes, and this red Clos Cibonne Cuvée Prestige Olivier, which comes from vineyards with shale and clay soils that are harvested manually and where they work according to the principles of organic agriculture.

To produce Clos Cibonne Cuvée Prestige Olivier the grapes macerate for 12 days in stainless steel tanks with controlled temperatures and ferment with their native yeasts, applying daily pump-overs in an attempt to ensure the maximum aromatic expression of the varieties. Lastly, the wine undergoes a one-year ageing in new 300 litre fine-grain oak barrels.

Clos Cibonne Cuvée Prestige Olivier is a rounded and elegant wine - a great Provence cuvée to discover and enjoy.

2014 Clos Cibonne Cuvée Prestige Olivier 2014 is a red wine with powerful and intense aromas, with hints of red fruit and ripe plums together with Mediterranean notes of olive and carob. On the palate it is full and velvety, with balanced tannins. This wine is undoubtedly the product of a great Provence vintage.
