Ribera del Duero elaborated by Abadía Retuerta, a winery located in the Golden Mile which has received awards both for its wines and for the winery itself.

The 2008 vintage was characterized by a very irregular and harsh climate, with a cold, dry winter and a extremely rainy spring, with some hard hailstorms. All of this lead to a late and fast harvest. The maceration process was short. The 54-plot grape harvests were vinified separately. 18-month ageing in French and American oak barrels.

Long ageing potential: 10-12 years.

Color

Dark red with maroon trims. Very intense and bright. Dense tears.

Nose

Attractive and highly complex. It shows a permanent background of fruit, especially red, which is noticed along with some delicate notes of wood that provide it with smothness, notes provided by the oak (leather, roasted coffee, vanilla, toffee,...). Subtle balsamic touches that provide it with a touch of freshness.

Flavour

Friendly, expressive and powerful attack with a pleasant, silky and tasty mid palate. Good load of fruit with well integrated notes of wood which deliver nice creamy notes. Nice and ripe tannins. Very expressive, with a soft acidity. Very good trajectory in the mouth. Long, lingering and pleasant finish with a spicy aftertaste.
