Features

Fourth vintage of this spectacular wine from Rioja produced by Eguren, a small family winery. La Nieta 2008 is the result of a carefully selected and hand made harvest from a small property (1.7 hectares) that bears the same name. Once the grapes are destemmed, and after the first fermentation in 10 hl small wooden vats, it undergoes a malolactic fermentation and is aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels.
It is recommended to decant and aerate it for an hour before it is served.
This wine has a great ageing potential. In good conditions, it can be stored for 20 years.
Elegance is the word that best defines this wine.

Color

Intense red with violet edges. Very bright. Dense, slow-falling tears.

Nose

Its tasty notes of fruit appear on an appealing creamy background. When it opens up, balanced notes of wood, some toasted touches and sweet spices emerge complementing the fruit arômas without hiding them. Some delicate floral notes are also noticed on a good mineral background. Intense and pleasant nose.

Flavour

From the first plunge this wine is round, and has a broad, bulky and full-bodied attack and a silky, creamy, intense mid palate. Its marked notes of black fruit are well integrated with the aromas of wood. It shows a very good acidity that provides an appreciated freshness. Tannins have a moderated presence. Long and lingering finish with a slightly bitter but pleasant mineral aftertaste.
A great wine that will conquer us. A pleasure, a jewel.
