El Puntido 2007
is a red wine from an estate planted with 25 hectares of Tempranillo vines, with clayey-chalky soils, situated in the outskirts of Laguardia and Rioja Alavesa. It's made by Viñedos de Páganos
, a member of the Euguren group, the group to which other wineries belong such as Sierra Cantabria
, Señorio de San Vicente
and Teso la Monja
. The harvest is carried out by hand in boxes, manually selecting the bunches that meet the optimum ripening and sanitary conditions, both in the vineyard as well as in the winery, where two conveyor belts are used. The grapes go through a pre-fermentation maceration for 5 days at 6ºC, carrying out two smooth pump-overs. The wine is then put directly into new French oak barrels where the malolactic fermentation takes place and the wine stays in contact with its fine lees for 6 months, to then age for around a year in the same barrels.
A picota red colour with a red-maroon rim. Dense tears show on the glass.
Good complexity, medium-high intensity, with aromas of forest fruits and liqueur, well balanced with notes from its ageing: toasted notes, spices and milky touches. Mineral.
On the palate this wine is tasty and very balanced. It's very long in the mouth, leaving a very ripe fruity aftertaste, along with balsamic aromas and spices. An elegant, structured and complex red wine
