Features Sela 2009
Second vintage of the youngest wine made by Roda, a winery located in the D.O.Q. Rioja, whose wines are made of local varieties only, treated with the utmost respect throughout the winemaking process. The basis of their work lays in the thorough knowledge of the vineyard. The grapes, their nuances and their qualities reflect the characteristics of each vineyard and each vintage.
Sela is a blend of Tempranillo and Graciano from 15-30-year-old vineyards grown in head pruned system. After the manual harvesting, this wine goes through spontaneous alcoholic and malolactic fermentations in French oak vats and half-new French oak barrels respectively. It goes through a 12 month ageing and is naturally stabilized by precipitation and settling of the sediments produced during the winemaking. This process is flattered by the the low temperatures reached in the cellar during the early winter months.
Tasting report Sela 2009
Color
Cherry colour with bluish edges. Clean and bright wine with thin light tears.
Nose
Medium intensity aromas in which the very expressive, intense notes of ripe red fruit stand out on a toasted background. After swirling the glass, some balsamic and grassy hints are also noticed.
Flavour
Good, quite bulky attack with a silky sensation and a very pleasant mid palate in which the same notes of red fruit noticed on the nose are released. It shows a good acidity and soft, well integrated tannins. A nice red wine.
