Features
New look for a great classic from Rioja, made of Tempranillo with a small percentage of the local variety Graciano (5%) from vineyards with an average age of 40 years.
The 2005 vintage was considered excellent and wines from this vintage are deep and serious. Grapes were selected both at the harvest and in the selection table. The kind of wood used in the ageing is not decided until the winemaking process finishes. In this vintage, the wine was aged for 18 months in second year French (70%) and American (30%) oak barrels. Once bottled, the wine stays in the cellar for another 18 months.
It is recommended to decant the wine at least 2 hours before serving it.
This wine is at its best moment but it can be stored for the next 5 years.
Color
Intense cherry colour with garnet edges. Clean and bright wine with a medium-high robe and thin tears.
Nose
Intense and frank aromas, with a nice complexity. Its intense notes of ripe red fruit with hints of liqueur are mixed with refined creamy roasted aromas and notes of spices provided during its ageing in barrels. A subtle hint of coffee is also noticed on its intense balsamic background.
Flavour
Elegant, serious, complex and deep wine with a long, fresh, lively, very tasty and full- bodied mid palate. The notes of ripe fruit are noticed again nuanced by some toasted and spicy hints. It shows well-integrated tannins and an excellent acidity. It has a long and persistent finish with fruity scents.
