Features La Cueva del Contador 2008

The history of the winery Contador dates of 1995, when Benjamín Romeo purchased a hundred-year-old cave underneath San Vicente de la Sonsierra's castle. The key of Contador wines lies in the detailed attention to each of the minor facts that take place along the winemaking production stages. Only in certain years the land is fertilised, and only organic materials are used, made in the winery from lamb manure. The principles of biodynamic agriculture are followed all the process long. 
La Cueva del Contador 2008, an excellent varietal wine made of Tempranillo, is the young brother of the prize-winning Contador. In the elaboration of this great red wine from the Q.D.O. Rioja, Benjamín Romeo uses the grapes obtained from 15 different vineyards located in the municipalities of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Briones and Labastida. The different soils, microclimates, orientations and altitude allow producing a red wine with a great complexity. 
Production limited to 8,000 bottles. 
Wine subject to availability. 
It is recommended to decant it before tasting it.

Color

High intensity ruby red colour. It is bright and shows thin tears.

Nose

High intensity, deep nasal aromas with outstanding notes of red and black fruit. A mineral, subtle and elegant red wine with very well integrated wooden notes.

Flavour

In the palate, this wine is fresh and mature at the same time. It is deep and fleshy. It shows an elegant structure with an excellent balance between acidity and tannins. Tasty, elegant wine with a long and persistent finish.
