Features Baigorri Reserva 2006

New vintage of this red wine from Bodegas Baigorri in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa. Baigorri reserva 2006 is made from old tempranillo vines that are handpicked with very low production. The grapes are transferred to the selection table and once destemmed they are gently squeezed. The alcoholic fermentation, with long macerations, occurs in stainless steel tanks with submerged caps and pump-overs by gravity. Softly pressed. Next, the wine undergoes a malolactic fermentation on its lees in new French oak barrels. Finally the barrels are moved to the ageing room where the wine where the wine comes together with the wood for 18 months. The wine is then refined into the bottle. It is recommended airing this wine an hour before drinking.

Tasting report Baigorri Reserva 2006

Pretty and intense picota cherry colour, high robe, clean and bright.

Intensely aromatic. Good balance between ripe red fruit and notes of its ageing in new barrels – elegant toasted, roasted and smoky notes and sweet spices. Complex and powerful.

Fleshy, unctuous and enveloping with bulky attack. Good balance between ripe, pleasant, noticeable tannins and a magnificent acidity making the wine powerful. Long finish with an interesting and very persistent bitter aftertaste.
