Features Artadi Pagos Viejos 2009

“The value of the greatest wine is closely linked to the land and its people”. This is the premise of one of the most emblematic wineries of Rioja Alavesa, Artadi Viñedos & Vinos, which delights us with this Artadi Pagos Viejos 2009, a varietal wine made of Tempranillo grapes from estates of old vines. Since the 2011 vintage, Artadi follows the organic and biodynamic farming guidelines. Artadi Pagos Viejos 2009 is aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels. It is a great red wine from the Q.D.O. Rioja which has a great ageing capacity. It is recommended this wine at least one hour before enjoying it.

Tasting report Artadi Pagos Viejos 2009

Vermilion cherry red colour with violet edge which shows its youth.

In the nose, without moving the glass, we perceive both red and black fruit, with some lactic and spiced touch. When moving the glass, aromas of the ageing, notes of coffee, cigars, mentholated notes and stewed fruit appear. Fantastic and nice nasal complexity for a wine which has many things to say.

A red wine with a sweet attack, full-bodied, structured and lively. Both the acidity and the tannins are integrated but are very lively, a very powerful wine. Long and intense mid-palate. A great wine to be aged which will improve over time.
