Features Tionio Crianza 2009
The new vintage of this elegant red wine
made by Bodegas Tionio in Pesquera, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero
. Tionio 2009
has been made with Tinta Fina grapes from old vines with low yields. The leaf canopy is managed with green pruning and leaf removal to improve the quality of the grapes (resulting in a better ripening of the grape) and increase the effectiveness of sanitary treatments (thus enabling them to reduce the overall number of treatments). They use very little fertiliser - always of organic origin with mineral compliments from stone. Sanitary treatments are kept to a minimum and only natural products that respect the environment are used. After the fermentation in deposits and oak vats the wine ages for 12 months in new Allier barrels, of French and American oak. Before being bottled it is lightly clarified and gently filtered.
Tasting report Tionio Crianza 2009
An intense ruby red colour with a fine maroon rim. Clean and bright with elegant, fine tears on the glass.
A highly intense nose with clean and very elegant aromas. Fleshy, ripe red fruit, almost jam-like appears at first and then gives way to toasted notes and spices intermixed with smooth balsamic touches.
Similar to the nose. After a bulky, forceful attack, this wine is warming and enwrapping on the palate, filling the mouth with fruity sensations which flow into a long and persistent finish, leaving toasted and spicy notes at retro-olfaction.
