Features
With the Orto 2009, Joan Asens and his three friends have got to produce a more Mediterranean wine, more expressive and powerful than the Orto 2008.
It is made of a blend of the classic varieties grown in the area, from 12 different farms, with different soils, different orientations and different situations. The vines are aged of 18-60 years. The entire winemaking process is very carefully and meticulously conducted. This wine undergoes a long maceration, a fermentation in steel tanks and an ageing in 4-year French oak barrels for 3 months. It is clarified with egg white and gently filtered. This vintage was bottled in April 2011.
Production limited to over 20,000 bottles.
It is recommended to decant this wine 1 hour before serving it.
Powerful and expressive red wine perfect to be shared with a lively conversation.
Color
Intense cherry colour with purple edges. Clean and bright wine with abundant tears.
Nose
Its abundant notes of red and black ripe fruit are mixed with a good floral load that gives way to an explosion of nuances ranging from the subtle toasted notes and the tasty spices to a touch of liquorice and notes of minerals and undergrowth herbs. Its good balsamic background provides it with freshness.
Flavour
Expressive, powerful, lively and full-bodied wine with a wide attack, which fills the mouth with very tasty notes of ripe fruit, floral aromas and aromas provided during its short ageing in wood. It has a very good acidity and still noticeable but very nice, polished tannins. Long and persistent finish.
