Characteristics of Vall Llach Finca Mas de la Rosa

Vall Llach Vi de Finca Mas de la Rosa is a red wine made in Priorat by the Celler Vall Llach.

Vall Llach Vi de Finca Mas de la Rosa is one of the few Catalan wines has achieved the Ví de Finca Qualificada (A quality wine rating), the highest honour that can be bestowed upon a Catalan wine.

Vall Llach Vi de Finca Mas de la Rosa is made with Carignan (90%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) varieties from ancient vineyards planted on the Mas de la Rosa farm. A typical farm of Priorat with slate soils, called licorella in the area, with great sun exposure.

The harvest is done manually, as is all the work in the vineyard. The grapes are destemmed and macerated cold for 3 days before fermentation, which takes place in wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks for 17-19 days at a controlled temperature of 25-29ºC. Movement occurs daily and a gentle pumping is applied.

Once the fermentation is performed, the grapes are macerated for 12 days. After the maceration, and a gentle pressing, half the wine rests in stainless steel tanks and half in barrels, where malolactic fermentation will occur.

Vall Llach Vi de Finca Mas de la Rosa is aged in new lightly toasted French oak barrels of fine grain for 16 months.

Expressive, honest and full of personality. One of the great wines of Priorat, as proven by its recognition by Ví de Finca Qualificada.

Tasting notes Vall Llach Finca Mas de la Rosa

Sight Intense cherry red with a garnet rim. Nose The nose is intense, elegant, complex and very expressive. Black fruit and ripe red fruit. Memories of chocolate, balsamic, mineral, violets, eucalyptus. Little by little spice and roasted notes become evident. Vanilla, coffee, cocoa. Delicate, elegant and very pleasant. Taste On the palate fresh and volumous. A powerful, deep wine, with great concentration, but also silky, creamy, very nice and elegant. Ripe fruits with toasted oak. Perfect acidity. Very long, persistent and mineral finish.
Sight Cherry red colour. Very high robe. Nose In the nose, this wine is complex and intense. Aromas of black fruit, mineral hints, reminiscences of chocolate, rose petals and forest. Delicate, elegant and very pleasant nose which entices us to take a sip. Taste Fresh and bulky attack. Balanced and deep wine with a really great concentration. Meadow flowers, aromatic herbs and red flowers are melted along with ripe fruits such as cherries, figs and plums. It is creamy, pleasant, intense and nice. Very long and mineral finish.

Winery Vall-Llach

Priorat is craftsmanship and tradition, old and robust vines that are grown and born deep inside the province of Tarragona. They are grown on slopes that are sleety with low fertility and difficult to grow in. In Priorat they produce great red wines of an excellent quality, a maroon colour, robust, dense and rich flavour, intense aromas and sometimes there are reflections present of minerals from the soils.
