Characteristics of Sumarroca Sauvignon Blanc

A good example of the Sauvignon Blanc produced in Penedès. It is produced by Bodegues Sumarroca winery with grapes grown in two different farms with different microclimates which also provide different subtle nuances to the wine. The grapes are selected during the harvest and chilled when they arrive to the winery. They go through a maceration for several hours. Part of the wine is fermented in steel tanks while the rest goes through a fermentation in French oak barrels from Allier. Once filtered and stabilised, the wine is bottled and rests in the cellar for two months more. Elegant and very fresh wine from Penedès.

Tasting notes Sumarroca Sauvignon Blanc

Sight Very bright and clean pale yellow colour. Nose Intense and seductive varietal aromas. Some initial grassy aromas give way to the notes of juicy but not very ripe fruit mixed with a subtle smoked touch. Delicate floral background. Taste Good attack in which the fruit becomes outstanding, more expressive and seductive. Its lively acidity provides it with freshness. Very tasty wine with a creamy texture. Good finish with very pleasant sensations.
Sight

Pale, bright and clean yellow colour.

Nose

Very intense wine, with a marked varietal character. The ripe fruit aromas are perceived on first nosing along with delicate floral notes on a subtle and light herbal background.

Taste

Very good, smooth and clean attack in which this wine fills the mouth with very fresh and fruity sensations. It has a creamy and delicious mis palate and a good finish that leaves an elegant herbal aftertaste.

Brilliant pale yellow.

Highly aromatic, with aromas of ripe fruits and a touch of cured meats.

Smooth and elegant, with hints of dried fruits and vanilla from the fermentation in oak.

Winery Sumarroca

Today, the D.O Penedès is experimenting with viticulture and winemaking like no other region in Spain, home to a vast range of different grape varieties. The region is home to traditional white and red varieties, foreign ones, noble ones, as well as those that demostrate instrisic qualities. As well as the grapes, the production techniques used are also worth noting, the location of the vineyards, the yields per hectare, the wines produced using traditional, original or even exclusive blends, the different ageing times, as well as the complexity of the different barrels used!  But the reality is, given the vast diversity, it can be difficult to pinpoint what really defines a wine from the Penedès, since there are so many types of wines and wineries in the region. However, there is one common denominator of the wines from Penedès, and that’s balance and quality.
