The rather mild nature of this elegant Single Malt is due to the use of high and onion-shaped stills in its distillation.
It has recently received the Gold Medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition 2010. Previously, it received the Best in Class in the Trophy for Best Single Malt Whisky under 15 Years.
Tasting report Caol Ila 12
Color
Pale straw yellow colour.
Nose
Powerful aromas presided by the notes of smoky peat.
Flavour
Wide, refined, oily and very balanced. Medium bodied and with complex aromas of medicinal plants. Its notes of iodine (seaweeds and salt water) are noticed along with hints of peat and spices. Slightly spicy finish.
