To the west of the province of Tarragona, between the river Ebro and the limits of Zaragoza and Teruel, the vineyards are protected by the PDO Terra Alta.
The climate is Mediterranean with continental features, temperatures range from -3 º C and 38 º C and are usually collected 500 mm of rain annually.
Terra Alta is characteristic of the terraced farms on heavy soils, deep and not too porous.
The vines are pruned very short to get a trailing carriage and use soil moisture.
Terra Alta produces white wines tough, high strength, extensive and far-body. The reds of great layer, are produced with a mixture of three red varietals authorized.
Terra Alta also produces sweet wines.
