The Designation of Origin Ribera del Guadiana extends across much of the province of Badajoz and the South East of Cáceres, in the autonomous community of Extremadura.
Its area of vineyards in this young Denomination of Origin are structured in six sub wine, each of which possesses a special and particular and the guardian of an ancient tradition of wine production.
These subareas are: Cañamero and Montánchez, in the province of Cáceres and Ribera Alta Ribera Baja, and Matanegra Tierra de Barros, in Badajoz.
In a territory as the area occupied by the production of this Denomination of Origin is easy to find different meanings in the ecological and wine, however, there are common elements of all kinds, such as climate, warm summer and mild in winter, geological origin of their soil or cultural traditions that give rise to features of uniformity within an enriching diversity, its wine production.
This production includes white wines, some very modern design, such as barrel-fermented; attractive rosé and red wines, both young and aged in oak barrels. In all cases involve extensive wine, soft, warm and pleasantly moderate acidity; possess very particular aromas, giving them an attractive hallmark.
