The production zone of the Designation of Origin La Mancha, is spread over the provinces of Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca and Toledo. It is the largest winemaking region in the world.
This production area has always been highlighted among the Spanish winemaking regions in terms of volume of wine produced.
Currently its efforts are being focused on improving the quality of the wines and there have been spectacular achievements.
The climate of the area is very uniform, with variable rainfall of around 300-400 mm per year. The chalky soil is also very uniform.
On its surface, the largest area is devoted to growing the white variety Airén. Its vines are pruned very short so that its branches grow along the land retaining a maximum level of soil moisture. Among the red varieties, the main one is the high quality variety Cencibel.
