The area of the Conca de Barberá is situated in the north of the province of Tarragona, bordering the Lerida, part of the Great Depression of the Ebro Physiographic area is a basin or depression (conca in Catalan) which crosses the river bottom corrugated FrancolÃ, whose erosion has shaped a large amphitheater bounded by the Sierras de Miramar, Gaya block, and solid Tallat Prades. The geographical and historical center of the city region is the Duke of Montblanc. The natural environment of the Conca is very homogeneous. The lands are mainly calcareous and medium consistency tertiary origin and medium-strong. The climate is Mediterranean, but with marked continental influence of cold winters and hot, not too typical Mediterranean rainfall regime that reaches 500-550 mm per year. The cultivation of vineyards in the area is an ancient tradition, now constituting the most important agricultural production.
