In the west of the province of Zaragoza, and in the north of the DO Cariñena, lie the vineyards that belong to the DO Campo de Borja.
This is a region of harsh climatic and soil conditions. Its climate is extreme, with cold winters and hot summers and marked and prolonged drought periods. The soils are loose and stony, which provides an excellent aeration and drainage to the vines. They are also poor in organic matter, and well endowed with limestone. In this difficult environment, the red variety Garnacha shows its best oenological qualities, resulting in an interesting production of red and rosé wines.
