Wineries
The province of Biscay is included within the Historical Territory of the Basque Autonomous Community. It is therefore located in the north of Spain, with a long coastline bathed by the Cantabrian Sea. This is an area with strong industrial and urban development in which agriculture has managed to survive thanks to the efforts of a group of farmers and stockbreeders who have worked hard to preserve traditional crops and the recognition of its quality. One of those peculiar and traditional products was and still is the wine popularly known as "Txacoli". It was in the early eighties when a group of winemakers founded the Txakolineros Association of Biscay (BIALTXA) that, with the support of the Basque Government (and the Provincial Council of Biscay) the recovery campaign of this exquisite and peculiar wine was launched.
