High productivity is resistant to drought and cold and sensitive to pests and diseases. The medium-sized berries are oval and dark red, purple. High alcohol content, combining well with other varieties. The wines produced Garnacha Tinta offer a wide range of characters, distinguishing a fruity aroma when young. The name comes from Vernazza, Liguria Italian population. A variety that is possibly derived from the adaptation of the Grenache to the island of Mallorca, is the Manto Negro, mainly grown in the DO Binissalem. To be widespread throughout the world, this is one of the varieties of grapes with more synonyms: alicante blau, Aragonés, Cannonau (in Sardinia), Garnacha negra, garnacha roja or gris (Castilla y León) Garnatxa Negra or del Pais (Catalonia), Giró or Gironet (Mallorca), granatxa (at Priorat), Lladoner (at Empordà), Negrella (in Valencia). It is the protagonist of a great majority of the rose wines in DO Navarra.
