Native grape of Spain and more specifically from Galicia. Of good quality and disease resistant. Their productivity is very low, so, because of its shortage, may disappear. It is used to mix with other varieties, but can also be made varietal wines. Synonyms: Albarillo, Brancellao, Uva gallega and Uva Negra. It is grown in the DO: Rias Baixas and Ribeira Sacra. Brancellao grapes are also grown in northern Portugal.
