Oscar Garrote

Owner of the Restaurant Vinotinto Joven (Valladolid, Spain)

  • Terra d'Uro Selección
  • Abadía Retuerta Selección Especial
  • Juan Gil Monastrell Crianza

Oscar Garrote inherited his interest for gastronomy from his father José Antonio, who was always a star in the world of Spanish cuisine with its restaurant La Fragua, located in Valladolid. When Michelin stars were not yet a matter of protocol and evolved cooking, Oscar's progenitor already showed them with his traditional simplicity.
In the nineties, Oscar began his own career in the world of gastronomy. The simplicity of his tapas bars (Vinotinto Joven and Vinotinto Parrilla) and restaurants (Entretapas y Vinos, La Taberna del Herrero and La Fragua de Toro) is the basis of his success, along with the emphasis on the abundant wines and his informal way of approaching cuisine and the restaurant business.
For Decántalo, we chose the most versatile local so as to open a bottle of wine, which is ultimately what we are interested in, the Vinotinto Joven... Its "young", well informed and good-looking staff, run this restaurant with freshness. It has the air of a club but it is focused on wine and elaborated tapas, even if sometimes a pleasant surprise in classic format comes out of their fires vigorously...
The wine recommendations are in charge of Oscar and Federico, a staff member, who is a lover of wine and its world.

Terra d'Uro Selección

Tinta de Toro from old vines. Perfect with a marinated steak, a world of contrasts. Amazing!

Abadía Retuerta Selección Especial

What can I say! A classic that is always pleasant. It gives an exquisite touch to a modern version of a classic, a skewer of duck in orange sauce.

Contained power of Monastrell, with lots of fruit and wood. Tasty and elegant wine. Enjoyable. Perfect match for a roll of dried meat (cecina) and tomato jam.
