Characteristics of Raventós i Blanc Isabel Negra

Raventós i Blanc Isabel Negra is a red wine produced by Raventós I Blanc in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, Barcelona, under the D.O. Penedés.

The grapes used to produce this wine come from the Conca del Riu Anoia, are planted on low bush vines and are cultivated following the principles of biodynamic agriculture.

Raventós i Blanc Isabel Negra is a blend of three different grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), Syrah (15%) and Monastrell (10%). Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, is pressed lightly and undergoes a subsequent malolactic fermentation in the same deposits. The wine is then racked over 12 months in French oak barrels.

Tasting notes Raventós i Blanc Isabel Negra

Sight Ruby red with a maroon rim. Clean and bright with dense tears on the glass. Nose Spices and smoky aromas stand out at first which, once opened out, give way to tasty, ripe black fruit, well balanced with fine roasted notes. Hints of leather and chocolate. Taste Subtle and ripe in the mouth with good attack. The palate is characterised by smooth, silky texture, marked by delicate tannins and a good acidity which adds freshness. Long and persistent finish leaving tasty spicy and fruity aromas lingering.
Sight Intense cherry colour with elegant maroon reflections. Bright and clean wine with elegant thin tears. Nose Elegant and complex aromas with fresh notes of red and black fruit nuanced by creamy spices and cocoa. When it opens up, suggestive hints of leather, tobacco and fresh menthol are released and complete this range of aromas. Taste Elegant, soft and intense wine, with a long tasty mid palate, with a high silkiness and lots of notes of spicy fruit. It is very fresh and shows a very balanced acidity and very refined, silky tannins. Its finish is very nice and persistent.  Perfect harmony of the notes of fruit and wood and a perfect balance.
Sight Half red cape. Nose A deep nose where we mainly cocoa notes mixed with hints of cassis and ripe fruit. The spices and earthy aromas just outline a complex nose and Aggressive
Taste In the mouth it is compact, a tannin softened by their time resting in barrel that is based on tactile sensation of ripe fruit. The finish is very spicy and fatty pleasant scents dominated by a species which will meet again and cocoa.

Winery Raventós i Blanc

Today, the D.O Penedès is experimenting with viticulture and winemaking like no other region in Spain, home to a vast range of different grape varieties. The region is home to traditional white and red varieties, foreign ones, noble ones, permitted grapes, experimental grapes, and those that demostrate intrinsic qualities. As well as the grapes, the production techniques used are also worth noting, the location of the vineyards, the yields per hectare, the wines produced using traditional, original or even exclusive blends, the different ageing times, as well as the complexity of the different barrels used! But the reality is, given the vast diversity, it can be difficult to pinpoint what really defines a wine from Penedès, since there are so many types of wines and wineries in the region. However, the common denominator of all the wines from Penedès continues to be balance and quality.
