D.O. Pla i Llevant

Winery Miquel Gelabert

Eighteen municipalities make up the production area of this Designation of Origin, which, as its name implies, occupies the central and eastern part of the island of Mallorca. It is a flat area of low elevation with limestone soils of Tertiary origin.
The region has a typical Mediterranean climate with moderate cold winters and long dry summers. The varieties considered as part of this D.O. are Muscat, Prensal Blanc (also known as Moll), Macabeo, Parellada and Chardonnay within the white grape varieties and Callet, Fogoneu, Manto Negro, Merlot, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Monastrell within the red grape varieties. Red, white and rosé wines are produced within this D.O. as well as fortified wines, semi-sparkling and sparkling wines.
