Characteristics of Martin Faixó Perafita

 

Martin Faixó Perafita is a red wine from the Empordà region. It is produced by the Martín Faixó winery, which is situated in Cadaqués-Cap de Creus.

The weather of this area is characterised by soft winters with only little frost, with extremely hot summers, moderated by sea breezes. Another factor that has an influence on the vineyard is the strong winds that come from the north, known as Tramotane. All of this helps in the development of the grapes.

Martin Faixó Perafita is a blend of Garnacha Tinta, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon from vines that are over 30 years old. In regards to ageing, Martin Faixó Perafita spends 11 months in French, Allier oak barrels

Tasting notes Martin Faixó Perafita

Sight Dark cherry red colour with intense maroon edge. Clean and bright. High robe and beautiful tear. Nose Intense nose, full of ripe black fruit which gives way to spiced notes, pepper, muddy and mineral reminiscences and refreshing Mediterranean aromatic herbs. Taste In the mouth, it surprisingly shows a soft and at the same time strong mid-palate. Very well-structured, powerful, with plenty of fruit, great acidity, juicy tannins and long and persistent finish. Very tasty.
Sight Dark cherry colour, with intense maroon edges. Clean and bright, high robe, with fine tears on the glass. Nose Intense nose, full of ripe black fruit which gives way to spicy notes, pepper, earthy and mineral nuances and refreshing touches of aromatic Mediterranean herbs. Taste Surprising on the palate, very gentle, both strong and delicate at the same time. Very well structured, powerful, with a high concentration of fruit. Good acidity, juicy tannins, long and persistent finish. Very tasty.
Sight Cherry-colored wine. Nose Intense and complex aroma with spicy notes derived from barrel aging and balsamic notes on a background of ripe fruit. Taste The palate is dense, spacious with good structure, with a fresh acidity and ripe tannins.

Winery Martin Faixó

The landscape of the region of Empordà, located in the northeast of Catalonia, is full of contrasts, due to the natural limits of the Pyrenees in the north and the Mediterranean Sea and magnificent Costa Brava in the east. Thanks to these, the Empordà is a unique place, a special territory between the sea and the mountains, marked by the presence of the north wind known as Tramontana.
