Characteristics of Improvisació

Improvisació 2013 is a white wine from the Penedes prepared by Cal Raspallet Viticultors, a winery in Vilafranca del Penedès.

Improvisació is 100% made from Xarel·lo, from a small plot of 0.89 hectares in the Taus vineyard, located in Torrelavit in Alt Penedès.

For the cultivation of the vineyards, the winery follows the principles of biodynamic agriculture, with particular emphasis on minimal intervention so that the grapes may develop spontaneously. Being a small plot, the cultivation is more personal and direct.

To prepare Improvisació 2013, the grapes are destemmed and macerated cold for 10-12 hours. Subsequently an aging is conducted in cement tanks and French oak for about 8 months.

For Improvisació 2013 it is advisable to decant.

Tasting notes Improvisació

Sight Pale golden yellow with steely hues. Bright, clean and fine glyceric tear. Nose Very intense, aromatic and fragrant. Notes of ripe white fruit with herbal and mineral notes. Floral and toasted flavours. Taste Light and pleasant entrance. Very good acidity, smooth and balanced. Long and inviting finish.
Nose A fantastic explosion of intense and seductive aromas. First, we are amazed by herbal nuances, slightly spicy touches and emerging white fruit. After swirling the glass, the ripe white fruit gains in intensity and tropical fruit appears, with toasted, creamy (slightly buttery) nuances and a floral touch. Light mineral background.
Sight Nice pale golden yellow with steely edges. Bright and clean wine with thin dense tears. Nose A large explosion of intense and seductive aromas. First, it surprises us with its herbal nuances, the light spicy touches and an increasing scent of white fruit. When swirling the glass, the notes of ripe white fruit gain in intensity and get mixed with some hints of tropical fruit and good creamy toasted aromas (with a light hint of butter) and a floral touch. Light mineral background. Taste Very nice, seductive and elegant wine. A mature wine, with very well balanced fruit and wood and a good acidity. Very aromatic wine with a creamy texture. Its long finish leaves the mouth full of smoky sensations.

Today, the D.O Penedès is experimenting with viticulture and winemaking like no other region in Spain, home to a vast range of different grape varieties. The region is home to traditional white and red varieties, foreign ones, noble ones, as well as those that demostrate instrisic qualities. As well as the grapes, the production techniques used are also worth noting, the location of the vineyards, the yields per hectare, the wines produced using traditional, original or even exclusive blends, the different ageing times, as well as the complexity of the different barrels used!  But the reality is, given the vast diversity, it can be difficult to pinpoint what really defines a wine from the Penedès, since there are so many types of wines and wineries in the region. However, there is one common denominator of the wines from Penedès, and that’s balance and quality.
