Characteristics of Gramona III Lustros Gran Reserva Brut Nature

Gramona III Lustros Gran Reserva Brut Nature is an excellent cava produced by the Gramona winery in the Penedes. In 1881 the Celler Batlle, a project created by Pau Batlle, was founded.

Currently, it is run by its fifth generation. The climate in the Upper Penedès is pre-coastal, ie frosts are more frequent and the contrast between the maximum and minimum temperatures is great. This wine is a blend of Xarello (70%) and Macabeo (30 %) from a vineyard of 150 hectares in the winery itself . Gramona III Lustros Gran Reserva Brut Nature remains corked for a period of 5 years, The process which takes place is completely manual, i.e. the cutting and stirring.

Tasting notes Gramona III Lustros Gran Reserva Brut Nature

Sight A light yellow colour with green hues. Nose The nose presents complexity. Aromas of flowers accompanied by notes of aging, smokiness and a toasted flavour. Fragrant herbal notes appear. Taste

On the palate, it is a powerful wine that has good acidity. It has a thin, soft entry. Leathery notes of nuts , rosemary , rye , malt , praline and dry bread appear . The carbon dioxide is well modulated . Slightly bitter finish.

Sight Straw yellow colour with greenish reflections. Limpid and bright cava which shows a very fine bubble which comes off slowly. Nose Harmonious, delicate and elegant nasal aromas. Its fine aromas of ripe white fruit, dried white flowers and some citrus stand out along with the intense notes provided during its ageing: smoked notes, refined toasted hints, bakery and confectioner nuances, butter, nuts and some traces of milk. A very interesting nose. Taste It shows a soft, intense and fresh attack. Its mid palate is marked by a suggestive creaminess. It has a well integrated and embracing fizziness, lots of fruity notes of citrus and ripe white stone fruits and notes reminiscent of yeast. Marked, deep and crispy acidity. Long and persistent finish which leaves an aftertaste of citrus, smoked and balsamic notes, some bitter hints and nuances of toasted bread. Deliciously complex and easy-drinking at the same time.
Sight Straw yellow with greenish reflections. Nose Strong notes of aging, smoke and roast, mountain flowers and nutts that are merged into a gentle aroma of butter, caramel coffee with milk, notes of wood, dried figs and marron glacé.
Taste Soft touch, fine entry of the bubble, notes of maturity, fresh milk, bread, nuts, pastry,  comes to mind the skin of dry fruits, rosemary, rye, malt, praline bread ... well-modulated carbon.

Winery Gramona

Cava was born under the constant shadow of its French counterpart, Champagne. However, produced over 1,200km away and a gap of over 100 years, Cava was always going to be a completely different product, even if produced using the same method and and sometimes with the same varieties. Firstly the climate and soil have a profound impact on the yields, while the plant strains that thrive here and completely different to those in the Champagne region. Fortunately, as more winemakers are becoming convinced of this, they are producing Cavas with their own personality, showing off the art of the second fermentation in the bottle like no other wine region in the world.
