Characteristics of Finca Dofí

Finca Dofí is an excellent wine from the D.O. Priorat region produced by Álvaro Palacios, the man behind l´Ermita.

Álvaro Palacios was one of the visionaries who helped establish the D.O Priorat. Towards the end of the 80´s, Palacios, along with René Barbier, Carles Pastrana, Josep Lluís Pérez and Daphne Glorian,  knew of the potential of the land and its soils for producing superb wines. They helped transform what was once a forgotten land into practically one of the worlds best known wine producing regions.

A bet on the land, on authenticity, on old vines and soils with large personalities. Finca Dofí is one of the biggest exponents. This red wine is a blend of different grape varieties, but Grenache is the main protagonist. The grenache grapes used are taken from a small 9 hectare estate which gives the wine its name, the Finca Dofí. The vineyards are planted on terraces and slopes facing northeast, southwest and east at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level. The soils are mainly licorella, the name given to the slate in Priorat. This soil composition is so typical of that area, and they bring a special character to the wines.

In regards to the production process, the grapes are destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation takes places in wooden tanks, while the ageing process takes about 18 months in French Oak Barrels.

Finca Dofí is more than just a bottle of wine. It is an experience that will take to the authentic Priorat. A pure wine, bodied and silky while powerful, concentrated and authentic.

D.O. Priorat

Winery Alvaro Palacios

Priorat is craftsmanship and tradition, old and robust vines that are grown and born deep inside the province of Tarragona. They are grown on slopes that are sleety with low fertility and difficult to grow in. In Priorat they produce great red wines of an excellent quality, a maroon colour, robust, dense and rich flavour, intense aromas and sometimes there are reflections present of minerals from the soils.
