Els Raustals 2007 is a red wine made by Cavas Recaredo (the first harvest was in 1996) in the D.O. Penedès. It's a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Ull de Llebre from organic vines enrolled in the register "Consell Català de Producció Agrària Ecològica".

Tasting notes Els Raustals

Sight Pretty picota cherry colour with a ruby rim, high robe, clean and bright. Fine tears on the glass. Nose Complex nose, once opened out light aromas of ripe black fruit appear along with spices. Gradually gains in nuances and tobacco, refreshing balsamic notes and intense toasted touches also appear. Taste This wine is serious and enjoyable, with good structure, balanced and a good acidity. Intense but pleasing tannins. Long and quite persistent finish. Spicy aftertaste. Smoky and toasted notes felt at retro-olfaction.
Sight Red wine red color with purple reflections. Nose It is a wine with an intensely aromatic, which highlights the aroma of wild fruits and ripe red fruit such as blackberries and plums. Salen background mineral tones, balsamic and spicy.
Taste The mouth is large, greedy and very intense, due to the presence of ripe tannins. The passage of mouth is round and greedy mouth during the passage of sensations predominate species fruit with nuances. The finish is intense, very long and pleasant.

Winery Recaredo

The Control Board of this Designation of Origin was founded in 1960. At those times, the culture of wine started representing a very important economic power in the region of Penedes, a set of companies started to settle in the area, elaborating, producing and bottling their own properties' wine, which started to be marketed. This gave rise to the creation of the Designation of Origin Penedes. Its foundation simply meant the recognition of a very specific product, but also started guaranteing the quality of the products from an specific area. This Control Board has already inscribed five thousand and seven hundred winemakers, two hundred and seventy wineries, such as Celler Albet i Noya and one hundred and forty eight companies involved in the wine ageing and export. This implies an annual production of between one million and a half to two million of wine hectoliters. The Designation of Origin ensures some specific grape varieties, such as the Cabernet Sauvignon. In order to produce a specific kind of wine, according to some elaboration protocols and from vineyards voluntarily located within the region, the wine cannot be made out of any other variety. All this regulations resulted in a wine that consumers recognize as Penedès wine, protected by the Control Board of the Designation of Origin, which guarantees a certain quality.
