Characteristics of Duran Gran Reserva Brut Nature

Duran Gran Reserva Brut Nature is cava brut nature from D.O Cava produced by Cava Duran. This is a blend of the varieties Xarel-lo, Macabeo, Paellada, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

The grapes used by Duran Gran Reserva Brut Nature grow in vineyards at various heights, but always under 350m above sea level.

The soils are sandy-loam and very poor in organic material.

The harvest takes place between August and September, all by hand.

In the winery, the grapes for Duran Gran Reserva Brut Nature are pneumatically pressed and the obtained wine uses only the free-run juice.

Each variety is fermented separately at a controlled 15-18ºC in stainless steel tanks.

Duran Gran Reserva Brut Nature is aged in the bottle for 42 months. Before being released on to the market, this cava is made clear by daily shaking and a disgorgement process.

Duran Gran Reserva Brut Nature receives a licor de expedición (sweet reserve) and no additional sugar, which makes this a brut nature.
Cava Duran is a leading winery by the young oenologist Ramon Canals. It is distinguished by three aspects: produce products with at least 30 months of ageing, use modern blends and indicate on the label the date of the harvest and the disgorgement.

Tasting notes Duran Gran Reserva Brut Nature

Sight Straw yellow with fine bubbles Nose Complex and full-flavoured, fruity and roasted aromas with a ripened fruit base.
Taste Fresh and dry, with body. Pleasant and long. Perfect carbonic integration.
Sight Straw yellow colour with fine bubbles and a slow release. Nose On the nose it is complex and powerful. The dry fruit and toasted aromas stand out with a background of ripe fruit. Taste On the palate it is fresh, dry, round, and with nerve; a pleasant after taste, clean and long. Well integrated carbon.
Sight Straw yellow colour with golden reflections. Fine and soft bubbles which come off slowly. Nose Clean medium-high nasal aromas with notes of fresh and ripe fruit among which the nuances of tropical fruit and citrus stand out. The notes provided during the ageing appear slowly, and the aromas become more complex: hints of toasted bread, nuts and milk. Taste In the palate, we find a very lively fresh, dry and well-bodied cava with a nice, clean and long after-taste. Very well integrated fizziness.
Sight Straw yellow colour with greenish reflections and fine, slow-rising bubbles. Nose Complex and powerful nose with aromas of patisserie, dried fruit, some toasted notes and hints of yeast on a background of ripe white fruit. Taste Good, bulky attack and creamy on the palate, with an excellent acidity adding depth. Very well integrated bubbles. Long finish with a fruit, refreshing, dry and clean aftertaste.

Winery Duran

Cava was born under the constant shadow of its French counterpart, Champagne. However, produced over 1,200km away and a gap of over 100 years, Cava was always going to be a completely different product, even if produced using the same method and and sometimes with the same varieties. Firstly the climate and soil have a profound impact on the yields, while the plant strains that thrive here and completely different to those in the Champagne region. Fortunately, as more winemakers are becoming convinced of this, they are producing Cavas with their own personality, showing off the art of the second fermentation in the bottle like no other wine region in the world.
