Last Monday evening we could not miss our date at the 7th Edition of Vitis Vinífera, the biannual wine event organised by the wholesaler Cuvée 3000 at the Auditori in Barcelona. At this event, a great number of wineries presented their wines.
The number of producers to visit was tremendous, so as time went by, we had to prioritize those that were still new for us. They seduced us with their kindness and savoir faire and showed us the essence of their terroirs, translated into excellent wines, most of which are available at Decántalo.
However, we could not resist tasting some great wines again. This was the case of Finca Terrerazo 2010 (the subtleness and elegance of Bobal grapes). And we could not either resist trying the so expected Ferrer Bobet Selecció Especial Vinyes Velles 2010: dense, balanced, absolutely harmonious and wide. By the way, it is expected to be in the market in October!
There was no doubt that the undeniable winner among all the wines we tasted was the wine Congo 2009, along with all the product range by Bodegas Canopy. In the words of Ricardo, who presented it to us, just a glass of this wine “…and one forgets about tomorrow”. Congo 2009 is made of a selection of the best bunches of Grenache from 50-year-old vines planted at 750 m altitude in the South of the mountains of Gredos. A red wine full of nuances, which moved us with its personality and singular character, with its excellent and controlled contribution of oak, which complements the notes of red fruit.
Another of the wineries that conquered us with their amazing honesty was Barco del Corneta (Valladolid). At this winery, the oenologist Beatriz Herranz coordinates the elaboration of an organic varietal wine made of the variety Verdejo, which is exactly the opposite to the most common Verdejo wines. It was deep, aromatic, with no adding, citric, spicy and unctuous. It has a very appealing acidity. Really tasty!
Groc 2011 is the result of a common project between Bodegas Ossian and Cuvée 3000. It is a white organic wine made from prephylloxera vineyards, fermented with indigenous yeasts and fortunately, it is far from the common wines in Rueda. Highly recommendable!
Last but not least, we cannot forget to mention a small winery located in Aldeanueva del Ebro and their wines: Inédito. Inedito 3/3, a Rioja with its own character elaborated by Luis, Bodegas Lacus’ oenologist, is one of their star wines and you can already find it in our website!
Thanks a lot to Cuvée 3000 for such a great organisation work!
