Remirez de Ganuza Reserva 2004

Remirez Ganuza 2004In the lovely Bask town of Samaniego, in the province of Álava, there is a winery with class and experience. This winery goes further as its guided by the love of the vines, the work and the patience.

The Remirez de Ganuza winery, managed by Fernando Remirez de Ganuza, is synonymous of success and good wine. This is not only our view, as months ago the prestigious Parker Guide awarded their Remirez de Ganuza Gran Reserva 2004 with the dreamt 100 points, achievement that only 6 Spanish wines had the honor of attaining.
Today we will try their Remirez de Ganuza Reserva 2004, made of Tempranillo (90%) and Graciano (10%), and aged in new French and American oak barrels, a proof that year after year in this cave they try to make a wine that would become the image of its vintage.

In the visual stage, it is a red wine, clean and bright, with cherry colour, “high robe”, (with dark and intense heart). When swirling the glass, its sides stay well dyed and the presence of abundant legs is appreciated.

In the olfaction, its power and nature wakes us up with its simple complexity. First, aromas appear of black ripe fruit (blueberries and redcurrants) to get mixed with notes of cream, toast, cocoa and toffee. It can be said that its aromatic range is large and is amplified as it gets in touch with the air. Very pleasant.

In the mouth, it has a powerful and round attack very polished. With a controlled acidity and very tamed tannins. Its persistence is perfect with a long and sober finish. In the nose, touches of smoky reappear with a predominance of caramel.

A more than recommended red wine Rioja, perfect for a special meal or for one of those days in which everything has to be perfect. To sum up, a wine for loving.
