New Spanish wines rated by Parker

It wasn’t until last 28th February that the prestigious magazine Wine Advocate, owned by the well-known critic Robert Parker, published the new list of Parker ratings for Spanish wines.

This time, the rating concerns specially the wines from Ribera del Duero, from Ribeira Sacra and from Rías Baixas, but also those produced by the Gil Family Sates (the group of wineries owned by Juan Gil family).

To sum it up, we could say that this time the magazine’s taster specialised in Spanish wine, Neal Martin, showed more selective and precise criteria than in previous ratings.

Ribera del Duero. Turismo 2.0

If we make a review of the wines from Ribera del Duero rated by Parker that are available at Decantalo’s, we can highlight the great rating given to Alion 2008: 95 Parker points for a great wine, elaborated by the group Vega Sicilia. A safe bet!

It is also worth highlighting the rating of Aalto 2010, which was given 94 points Parker, and the rating of Valderiz 2009, Pesquera Reserva 2009 and Dominio de Atauta 2009, which got 93 points Parker each.

Among the rating of wines from Ribeira Sacra, we must highlight Lapola 2010, with 92 points and Lalama 2008, which got 91 points.

Neal Martin has also rewarded the value for money of wines made by Orowines, the group owned by the Gil Family, since he allocated 92 points to the excellent Juan Gil 12 meses and to Shaya 2011. Other among Juan Gil’s best rated wines is La Atalaya 2010, from the Designation of Origin Almansa, which got 91 points Parker.

In this edition, the best rated among Rías Baixas wines were the amazing Albariño de Fefiñanes III Años 2010 and Davila L.100 Loureiro 2010 which were given 93 points Parker.
