New wines February

A large part of  day to day life at Decantalo (probably the most fun part) involves the reception, tasting and introduction onto our system of new types of wine and vintages of wines we already have, expanding our broad Spanish wine catalogue.

This month, we´ve decided to review some of the new wines you´ll find at Decantalo in the next month. Since it would be too difficult to mention all of them (that would be a very long post), we´ve decided to choose 10 wines that we find interesting for various reasons. Don´t miss them!

new wines

Terras Gauda 2013. Here we have another new vintage from one of the best Rías Baixas wines found on the market. A wonderful albariño accompanied by two indigenous grapes making a big comeback: Loureiro and Caiño Blanco. Full of personality, atlantic, elegant… You just have to try this wine!

Izadi Crianza 2009. From Bodegas Izadi comes the new vintage of this single-varietal of Tempranillo whose vines are found between Villabuena, Samaniego and Ábalos. Hence the label. This Rioja is great value for such enjoyable and high quality wine.

Avanthia Godello 2012. A jewel of the D.O. Valdeorras made entirely from Godello grapes and aged in the barrel for 7 months. Very limited production so get it now before it goes!

Numanthia 2010. How could we forget the arrival onto the market of the new vintage of Numanthia! A great wine from Toro that needs no introduction. What´s more, this new vintage comes with two guarantors: 94 Parker points and 96 Peñín points.

Faustino I Gran Reserva 2001. One of the most reliable reflections of what a Gran Reserva from Rioja should be. What´s more, this wine as recently been crowned the Best Wine in The World 2013 according to the specialist magazine Decanter.

new wines

Pago de los Capellanes Reserva 2010. We travel to Ribera del Duero to present to you the new vintage 2010 of Pago de los Capellanes Reserva. An elegant, serious red wine. Totally recommendable.

Heus Negre 2013. New vintage of this young red wine from the D.O. Empordá. A blend of Syrah, Garnacha Tinta, Merlot and Samsó (Carignan) grapes. Cheerful and easy to drink.

La Nieta 2011, produced by the oenologist Marcos Eguren at Viñedos de Páganos winery. Few wines in Spain and in the world can compare to this delicious work of art. A rather modern Rioja wine that, if lucky enough to try it, you won´t be able to forget.

Parés Baltà Honeymoon 2013. The new vintage 2013 of Parés Baltà Honeymoon has now arrived. A fun white wine made from 100% Perellada grapes, typical of the terroir from where it comes, the D.O. Penedés.

Viña Sastre Roble 2012. Another vintage of this interesting red wine from the D.O. Ribera del Duero. A single-varietal of Tempranillo from different vineyards of ages between 17 and 30 years old. Great value for such good quality.

We hope this selection suits your tastes. Next month we´ll review more new wines!
