Last 10th October, the 14th Exhibition of the Best Spanish Wines was held in Madrid’s Railway Museum. This event was promoted by Guía Peñín and Decántalo’s team had the pleasure to attend. This event brought together wines which had been rated 93 or more points in the Peñín Guide 2014 and, therefore, the attending experts of the wine sector had the opportunity enjoy the most successful wines of the participating wineries.
Regarding the activities that were carried out in this event, the participants could attend the presentation of the new Peñín Guide 2014, tastings led by experts, and finally the awards ceremony “Premios Guía Peñín 2014”.
The results of this 14th edition were excellent and with a high level of attendance reached: 161 wineries, 400 wines and 3,200 people, including experts and press, and privates. The words of the director of Guía Peñín, Carlos González, were convincing: “With work and self-improvement, we will get to the level reached by the great job of Spanish wine producers and by the undoubted quality of their wines”.
Revising the scores of the wines rated in the Peñín Guide that you can find in our website, the great ratings of both Espectacle 2010 and La Nieta 2010 should be highlighted: nothing less, nothing more than 96 Peñín points.
Another wine that got a high rating is Clos Mogador 2010, with its great load of fruit aromas and diverse nuances. This powerful, consistent, highly bulky, structured, wide and deep wine got 95 points.
We would also like to highlight San Román, the revelation wine from the D.O. Toro, since the vintage 2009 got 96 points, which already forecast a promising San Román 2010.
