Gramona Enoteca Brut Nature 2000, the best Cava in the world at CSWWC 2014.

Great news for Cavas Gramona, one of the most preferred wineries by our clients, a few days ago, looked like its Enoteca Brut Nature 2000 was going to get the title for the best cava in the world at CSWWC 2014.

CSWWC 2014, an acronym of Champagne and Sparkling Wines World Championship, is a new worldwide event led by expert in sparkling wine, Tom Stevenson, who also  often gives background coverage on these types of wines at other international events. This first edition saw more than 650 samples from around the world, resulting in the overall winner being the French champagne Louis Roederer Cristal Rosé.

No one can be surprised with the recognition this stratospheric Cava got which has been aged for over 12 years in galleries in the winery, a milestone that has not been achieved before by any other sparkling in our country, and it marks a turning point in the history of Cava, and now rubs shoulders with the best labels in French champagne with long aging.

Although, talking one to one about the best French sparkling wine also means talking about the price of the Cava which, unfortunately, only seems suitable for very special occasions: 120€ is the price of this Cava as there is a limited production of only 1200 bottles.

Gramona Enoteca Brut Nature 2000 is made with a coupage of Xarel·lo (75%) and Macabeu (25%) and in the glass it is a sparkling golden colour, clean and bright with fine bubbles.

On the nose the aromas of a good aging stand out. Light but a nice oxidation. Expressive, complex, seductive and surprisingly fresh with hints of stewed apples, fine pastries and cereal.

On the palate it is broad and creamy with a good acidity that promises a good life ahead. Elegant and balanced.

A blast of Cava.
