Characteristics of Albet i Noya Finca La Milana

Albet i Noya Finca La Milana is a red wine from D.O. Penedès produced by Albet i Noya. This wine is a blend of Caladoc, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

The grape, as the name of the wine suggests, originates uniquely from the La Milana estate. This is comprised of 11 terraces that occupy 7 hectares of land.

The soils are poor in organic material and are calcareous-clay. The vines are 25 years old and treated by organic methods. The grapes for Albet i Noya Finca La Milana grow in vineyards that were planted more 15o years ago by the mother of lord Milà: From this we have the name La Milana. The harvest is completed by hand. In the winery the grains are selected after being destemmed.

Albet i Noya Finca La Milana is fermented for 8 days at a constant 25ºC. Subsequently a 18 day maceration process with daily pump overs. Finally, Albet i Noya Finca La Milana is aged in new 225 litre French oak barrels for 3 months before resting in the bottle. This wine is not treated or stabilised in the cold. It passes through a light filtration process.

The Albet family started working the estate in 1903, although this relationship working with the wine dates back to the middle ages.

Tasting notes Albet i Noya Finca La Milana

Sight Dark cherry with ruby reflections. Nose Suggestive, touches of ripened red fruit and spicy undertones on a very mineral base. Taste Wide and juicy, combines the perfect acidity and touches of sweetness. This is a long lasting, persistent wine with a mineral finish.
Sight Dark garnet color, high and bright layer. Nose First stands the new wood. Once ventilated, lot of ripe fruit (red and black). Mineral notes and vanilla touches. Taste Entry powerful, full-bodied and sweet. Very well integrated tannins. Roasted notes again. Long and persistent.

Winery Albet i Noya

Today, the D.O Penedès is experimenting with viticulture and winemaking like no other region in Spain, home to a vast range of different grape varieties. The region is home to traditional white and red varieties, foreign ones, noble ones, permitted grapes, experimental grapes, and those that demostrate intrinsic qualities. As well as the grapes, the production techniques used are also worth noting, the location of the vineyards, the yields per hectare, the wines produced using traditional, original or even exclusive blends, the different ageing times, as well as the complexity of the different barrels used! But the reality is, given the vast diversity, it can be difficult to pinpoint what really defines a wine from Penedès, since there are so many types of wines and wineries in the region. However, the common denominator of all the wines from Penedès continues to be balance and quality.
