Characteristics of Albet i Noya El Blanc XXV

El Blanc XXV 2011 is a white wine by Albet i Noya (D.O. Penedés) made of an original blend of Viognier, Vidal and Marina Rión. The two last varieties are pre-phylloxera and were planted in an estate named Les Timbes, where a experimental vineyard is being grown under the principles of organic farming. Part of this wine is fermented in new oak barrels from Allier, with regular stirring of the cap, while the rest is fermented in stainless steel tanks. Production limited to 1,000 bottles.

Tasting notes Albet i Noya El Blanc XXV

Sight Lemon yellow colour with golden reflections. Clean and bright. Nose This wine shows clean, very fragrant, medium-intensity nasal aromas with plenty of notes of white and tropical fruit, citrus, floral aromas, aniseed hints, some aromatic herbs and light spicy touches. Taste In the palate, this wine is complex and well structured. Good, wide and bulky attack, followed by an unctuous mid palate marked by its good acidity and by a very pleasant buttery texture. Long finish with a remarkable persistence. Fruity aftertaste.
Sight Lemon yellow with green trim, bright. Nose Very pronounced aromas of honey, rosemary, orange blossom, white fruits (pear, peach, loquat, nectarine, apricot) on a background of elegant toffee.
Taste Has weight in the mouth, dense, and a long aftertaste marked by white fruits and honey rosemary.

Winery Albet i Noya

Today, the D.O Penedès is experimenting with viticulture and winemaking like no other region in Spain, home to a vast range of different grape varieties. The region is home to traditional white and red varieties, foreign ones, noble ones, permitted grapes, experimental grapes, and those that demostrate intrinsic qualities. As well as the grapes, the production techniques used are also worth noting, the location of the vineyards, the yields per hectare, the wines produced using traditional, original or even exclusive blends, the different ageing times, as well as the complexity of the different barrels used! But the reality is, given the vast diversity, it can be difficult to pinpoint what really defines a wine from Penedès, since there are so many types of wines and wineries in the region. However, the common denominator of all the wines from Penedès continues to be balance and quality.
